Some good reasons for you to consider bringing your horse to Saumort:

  1. The climate here is milder so horses can easily live out all year round. Fresh air is so much healthier for the lungs than being stabled and ambling around a field is much better for the joints.
  2. Farriery bills are considerably cheaper than UK prices. We have an excellent farrier who visits regularly.
  3. Vet bills are also cheaper - we have a specialist equine vet 10 minutes away.
  4. Saumort is horsey heaven - our horses live in small herds, in large fields with rivers to drink from and trees to shelter under.
  5. We have accomodation on site (with a heated outdoor pool, games room and play area) so you can combine visiting your horse with a family holiday or short break.
  6. We are easy to get to being only an hour from La Rochelle and Poitiers both of which you can fly to from Stansted very cheaply indeed. We are also in easy reach of Nantes (1.5hrs), Limoges (2.5 hrs), Angouleme (2hrs), St Malo port (3 hrs).........
  7. We are a small family run business and we love all our horses dearly. Any horses coming to stay at Saumort are considered one of the family and are treated very much an individual.

Grass Livery

  1. All year round turnout with a small herd.
  2. Hay (if needed).
  3. Checked in field every day.
  4. Brought in for thorough check over once a week and for farrier/vet visits.
  5. Use of indoor and outdoor schools.

Part Livery

  1. Daytime turnout with a small herd.
  2. Nightime stabling on a straw bed with ad lib hay.
  3. Turn out, bring in, rugs changed
  4. Basic feed.
  5. Use of indoor and outdoor schools.

Retirement Livery

  1. All year round turnout with a small herd.
  2. Farriery (trims).
  3. Worming.
  4. Hay (if needed).
  5. Basic feed (if needed).
  6. Checked in field every day.
  7. Brought in for thorough check over once a week and for farrier/vet visits.
  8. Monthly report with photos by email/post

Working Livery

  1. Horse or pony can be used by us for hacking/school work.
  2. All year round turnout with a small herd.
  3. Hay (if needed).
  4. Basic feed (if needed).
  5. All general daily care.
  6. Use of indoor and outdoor schools.
